Happy ็ Year!
From the frequency, or rather latency, in my blog update, you can tell I'm very very busy. Busy boosting the economy by doing what govts around the world advocate. Spend money. I was travelling around china for some jobs before making my way to tokyo to spend new year. The 6 of us went to nikko n kinugawa first to soak in onsen for 3 days and then headed on to tokyo. Being shopaholics, they visited the factory outlets on new year after meiji shrine where i burnt so much money buying lucky bags! Think i never got enough of them from last year.. Oh, and a gucci bag for my mum too. Supposedly limited edition for Japan.
Now it's back to reality where work comes first. Touched down in beijing on sat night, flew to qingdao on sunday night, then heading to inner mongolia tomorrow morning. One thing about working in China is that, I seem to learn a new thing every month. This month, I learnt that client's top management can insist auditors to stay in a crappy hotel that you can book from ctrip for 150RMB but pay 300RMB instead so that they can earn the rebates. And although we're a Big 4 firm, we must support this fraud or else we lose the client. And for another electricity client, we have to stay in even crappier hotels because they couldn't pay the electrical bills and owed the electricity client lots of money. Hence, they made up by providing accommodation that's filled with rats and cockroaches (not just under the beds but also in the food).
Next week will be shanghai and shenzhen, then finally HK before i return to singapore. All for work. Not to mention the fact that i also have to do conference calls during my 2-weeks stint in singapore, where 1 week is no-pay leave. Yes, we now need to take no-pay leave in order not to get retrenched. Now, we can only look forward to a great ็Year!
