Happy New Year from Italy and Germany!

The last couple of weeks had been lots of ups and downs. Seriously, Sicily had plenty of seriously STEEP slopes, and i was driving a manual car on the other side of the road! Plus the super narrow streets that you sometimes need to fold in your wing mirrors to drive through. Then again, i'm not sure if u were supposed to drive thru them either since i can't read their signs nor understand them. And who cares! Especially since i got lost half the time n another half the time got horned at for driving in the opposite direction.

It was sausages, crepes, glu wine and christmas markets in germany. Was in bonn wandering the streets (even visited beethoven's birth place), then we drove up to nuremburg or something like that, before finally flying to sicily for warmth. An increase from -3 degrees to 10 degrees was definitely fantastic!

Started with palermo where we had pastas n more pastas. Then to giardini naxos n taomina where we had pizzas and seafood. Then finally to catania n lido di noto where we stayed in some ulu pandan farm (it is not listed on any GPS) to celebrate new year's eve with a bunch of old folks n family men. This was the only non-hilton hotel we stayed in, simply because we tot nowhere would be open during new year's eve for dinner n we didn't wanna starve. This farm provided dinner... and drinks! What we didn't expect was, the drinks was free flow n the alcohol was superb!

So early this morning, on new year's day, we got up at like 6am to start driving to the airport. Based on experience, we buffered 1.5 hours to get lost. In the end, we didn't get lost and we were so damn early that neither the car rental company nor the check-in counters were opened. So we just sat there and stoned for an hour. Anyway, i'm now finally in frankfurt airport ready to head back to good ol' sunny singapore. Once again, i'm super early (like at least 8 hours early) which is the first time in my entire life. Maybe it's a good start for the new year and hopefully i will keep it up during my next trip in 1.5 weeks time to aberdeen. :)
