All about maldives
I finally have some time to sit down n blog again. Now it's time to recollect my maldives trip. It's a lesson on, whatever can go wrong WILL go wrong.
And so, i left office at around 6.15pm to rush home n pack my luggage. My flight was at 8.30pm, so i was home by 7pm. I timed it according to my JIT principle - 5 min to pack my luggage, 5 min to get out of my house, 5 min to get my wallet from my older sis's house, 5 min to the airport from her house. While packing my luggage, i started panicking.. Where's my passport??? I recalled my last trip... scotland! That means.. my passport is in my bag, which is in office!!! DAMN!!!!! Quickly called my colleague to confirm my nightmare. Yes, it was in office. At 7+pm, it was super peak in raffles place n getting a cab was almost impossible. Plus the jam on ECP...
Still i had to try. Got my colleague to meet me at the airport with my passport, n called my sis to do the same with my wallet. And hence, i went to the airport with literally just my iphone. I had never travelled so light before. Fortunately, my colleague arrived at the airport at 8pm. I never felt more thankful in my life, though till now, i still haven't figured out if i was breaking out in cold sweat or just keeping my cool at that time given that it won't be my first time missing a flight anyway. But this is still a stupid reason to miss my flight.
Right, when we arrived, it was pouring. The club med guide said that maldives hasn't rained in a long time... and yes, only when i arrived. And i didn't know that the place was muslim such that alcohol was prohibited. I had to declare my riesling bought in germany to the customs. Only consolation is that they will return it to me at the end of the trip when i leave.
After the roller coaster boat ride in the storm to the island, we walked in the rain with a towel to our room. During the entire trip, i had more than 50 mosquito bites. When i covered myself with a blanket at night, the mozzies bit my face. Those were commando mozzies lah!
Anywayz, i konked out that night n rested for the sea activities the next day. But guess what? When i woke up, i realised that my period was here! And i had no pad. ARGH!!!!!! So my next few days in maldives at sea with free snorkelling n sailing n other things were like... screwed.
Ok, the good parts. I still went snorkelling, sailing n water polo with a lot of extra care. And then i had alcohol (cocktails, hard liquor) by the beach and pool like, morning, afternoon n night. Every single day. Crabs were running around on the sand, popping in n out of their holes. Saw sharks swimming so near me. And then on the last night before we left, it rained. Again. So we danced in the rain.
So yes, despite everything that went wrong, some things still went right. :)
