Exotic

On Thursday night, i had the most unforgettable dinner. Not because it was in Hainan, not because of the company i was with, not because of the kampong environment, not because of the many cups of white wine, but because of the food. For the first time, i actually ate more vegetables than meat. Apart from the mountain tortoise (cos it's more in "fashion" than sea turtles now), i had many sparrows and a monitor lizard. Peacocks were out of stock (phew!). Until now, i still can't get over the fact that i ate THAT thing running around my garden in singapore. Eew!

The monitor lizard...

The sparrows......

Just for the record, apart from the above, i had all these food in china too:
1. Live (i.e. still jumping) shrimps where u swallow it while it's struggling - Swatow
2. Rabbit's head and brains - Chengdu
3. Donkey - Inner Mongolia (I refused to eat horse meat)
4. Lamb's kidneys - Inner Mongolia
5. Unchopped sea turtle (it's soaked in a HUGE pot of soup) - Dongguan

Just got back to Singapore this morning. Just because i didn't think my niece will get into the finals and said something stupid like i'll fly back to support her if she did, i have to materialise that promise now. It's definitely a very expensive trip just for the weekend. As usual, i've got my 2-day schedule packed. Sim lim sq is a must, eat chai-tow-kuay, book my air ticket back to beijing, meeting a couple of friends, chilling somewhere, get a new mobile, fix my computer, the list goes on...
I don't wanna think of sunday night when i'm flying back to beijing where i arrive at 7am, then rush home, get changed, and prepare for my 11am meeting. When will i just stop jetting around??
