Yet another week

It's been another long week. Shockingly, I visited espirit twice (is tt how they spell it?) in HK n bought some stuffs (due to external pressure). Ate more oily n fatty food like dim sum, roast birds (goose/duck), wonton mee, etc. I'm resisting the rice (why is HK rice so nice??) n giving in to mango desserts. I really don't dare to weigh myself after hearing that my colleagues have put on 4-7kg each.

Last weekend, we went to macau n zhuhai. Within a matter of 2 days, we crossed 3 borders n collected more than 6 chops on our passports. Macau portuguese egg tarts were really good, and nope, we didn't even step into ONE casino. That just means i didn't visit 80% of macau. Zhuhai things were pretty cheap, but i'm really pushing it till shenzhen before making my move on DVDs. Heheee....

Tomorrow i'll be going to guangzhou n shenzhen on sunday before going back to dongguan again. Really looking forward to buying all my DVDs!! Especially after hearing wat my china colleague said abt the prices there... same price as blank DVDs in singapore! So exciting!!! :)

It's peiqi's birthday today n she's sick. But i'm sure she'll still somehow entertain herself in HK while waiting for me to knock off. We're meeting ka chi later for dinner, which means i'm going to abandon my colleagues n skip shopping. YAY!!

1 week in china...

I survived my 1st week in dongguan restraining myself from over-eating. Overwhelmed with the work n trying to ascertain how much truth the client is telling me. My only consolation was the weekend in Guilin. Then again, the trip there was pretty eventful due to the last minute planning.

1) We headed to the airport feeling all excited. When the plane was halfway flying to Guilin from Shenzhen, the pilot decided that the weather in Guilin was too bad for landing and hence we went back to Shenzhen. After all that flying! We touched down in Shenzhen for a couple of minutes, then they decided it was fine weather again. And so we flew to Guilin for the second time.

2) Due to our late arrival, the hotel we booked in Guilin gave out our rooms to other people as they thought we were not arriving anymore. So after half an hour of scolding them, we still managed to squeeze out the rooms.. from other people who haven't checked in!

3) The next morning when we were taking the 4-hour cruise down Li river to go to another town, we received the news that our hotel in the other town had cancelled our booking as we didn't check-in there the night before. Apparently, our cancellation of the 1st night booking in the hotel was not properly communicated to them. So we had to worry about hotel accommodation again! To make things worse, our client's secretary called us at noon that day to tell us that all the hotels were full and we had to search for some motels when we arrive. What the !@#$%^@$%??

4) Somehow, we found 3 rooms in the best hotel of the town (they had 4 left). So we hired this tour guide (who turned out to be really nice) to bring us everywhere for the weekend. Booked a "bread-car" to ferry us throughout the 2 days. Then horror struck. My stomach problems attacked me again! How bad can it get now?

5) No one in Guilin believed I was more than 20 years old. Shit.

Still, everything went well when we came back to Shenzhen. Maybe it's a sign that we belong here? Anywayz, we had 1st-class air tickets to fly back (as economy was completely booked) n jumped the entire queue (of more than 100 people) which pissed everyone else off. No one could believe that we flew 1st-class, though their 1st-class really CMI. But since it's domestic flight, i'll try not to complain on that. Oh, and since we were 1st-class passengers, none of the air stewardess dared to scold us although we were acting terribly. Comparing it to the time when we flew to Guilin in economy, the stewardesses were grumbling at us over the slightest thing.

Back to work again. Sighz.....
