Olympics fever over

Before you know it, the olympics had come and gone. I started out with not too many tickets, and ended up with plenty. After giving some away, I still managed to catch handball, hockey, taekwondo, female soccer and male soccer. Both the soccer matches i saw were finals. Yes, I actually saw argentina play in that bird's nest!! By the time it was the closing ceremony, i was so tired that i didn't want the ticket for the closing. After i found out that the going price for the closing ceremony ticket was like 200,000 rmb, i almost kicked myself. Now for the paralympics...

Anyway, many things happened and it's hard to recall all of them. I was having food poisoning since sunday and it hadn't stopped till now, though the frequency has slowed down... Which is supposedly good news for me since i guess i had always wanted food poisoning? Everyone could tell that i am significantly skinnier! I'm now craving for the champagne and cognac mooncakes from raffles hotel. Just thinking of them makes me drool.. :)------

My dad's coming over soon, then followed by wendy before i go for my holiday. Carol still cannot figure out if she still wants to go russia after all. Maybe cos it's damn expensive. Can someone tell me why moscow is the most expensive city in the world??

1 year anniversary

Time flies. I didn't even realise that i had spent 1 year in beijing already! It was until 2 days later that i noticed from my passport.. So i spent my anniversary having the usual china experience where i had a 5-hour flight delay, 4 hours of which were spent in the plane itself waiting to take off. That night, was supposed to have dinner with president Nathan, but because of the flight delay, i ended up going home late for instant noodles. Then carol n julynn invited me to their place for drinks with the promise of hot soup... Being gullible, i went n helped to clear a couple of bottles of wine. That ended my 1 year anniversary day.

Friday night, we went to catch handball olympics and it was much better than i thought! I'm not talking about the made in china cheerleaders though. The players were really good and we just made sure we were cheering for the right team based on the people who were sitting around us... Just now, we went to catch the table-tennis game at the singapore embassy. It was so obvious to me that the game was fixed. We didn't exactly bother to put up too much of a fight and that was disappointing. The only good thing coming out from watching it at the embassy was the food since it was from malacca legend, one of the best singapore/malaysia food in beijing.

Next week will be a tight schedule, and lots of juggling between work and going to the olympics games since 2 of 3 of my tickets are in the morning. I'm so stressed out!!!

Bad Hair Day

And so, after a week of procrastination, i finally went to cut my hair. Because i have no idea what to do with my hair, i always agree to whatever the hairstylist says. So last sunday, as usual, although i don't have a clue what the hairstylist was rattling about in chinese, i simply agreed and fell asleep. When i jerked up, i noticed that funny things were placed on my hair. OMG, i was undergoing some hair perm! The only consolation i had was that it was half head instead of full head. I spent the next few days flattening my hair back to shape with minimal success... :(

Since last sunday, i have been in shanxi for a project. I must say that this is the first local hotel that i feel has got some standard. It's like the best hotel in the entire town. The client's pretty good to us since it's IPO job, where we have free phones (not for IDD of course..), meals, laundry, etc. They just pay for everything! Of course we didn't abuse it by eating abalone every meal.. ha... but i must say that i'm growing fat again n it compensates for my absence from the Olympics games during the week. Had tickets for badminton match last night and a soccer game tonight but won't be able to make it for either. Sighz...

Last thursday, someone sent me a huge bouquet of 99 white roses without leaving his/her name (and embarrassing me in office). Now it's stuck in my house sitting on the sofa waiting to be sold to whoever wants it or dry up, whichever happens first. Anyway, i had to send it back home before going to alameda for carol's birthday. After that, we went partying again. Carol was wild n the next morning, i realised i lost my specs. Worst thing is, i don't know which club i left it at! So the next day, i went to the spectacles city to get a new pair of specs. Under the duress of julynn n carol, i ended up with 2 pairs (1 for weekdays, 1 for weekends). Ok, i know this is so NOT me but i've gotten over it already.. Then rushed down to durty nellys to catch the olympics opening. It was quite interesting since the crowd was of different country mix. U have a separate portion of the pub cheering at different times when the countries' reps came out one by one.

Now i must get back to work since my network is being monitored...

tkd

I suddenly feel that i miss tkd a lot. Dunno why the feeling just crept up, catching me unaware and totally off-guard. Should i find a club to train here? Or should i just go back to singapore n train the kids? Sighz..........

Enlightenment

Although i didn't make a very touching speech to say goodbye to alcohol for good, i still intended to keep my resolution for the year. Of course, there are lapses once in a while, like last night.. i went for the corona salsa party (without drinking a single drop of corona since i dun like it) at club88 n had mocktails. Good start. Then they decided to go to china doll. Julynn was already starting her "high" mode and forced everyone to pick a bottle. In the end (i've got a feeling it's thanks to me..), we had barcardi 151 which is like 75.5% alcohol. There goes my efforts into the drain. Once again, it was party till 4am with a weird indulgence for trance music (i seriously still don't think i like it at all since i feel it's mostly just beats n no music), playing finger games and silly dice games. A couple of my girlfriends were high and started unbuttoning my shirt on the dance floor, insisting that i shld look sexier. Geez.

Despite not having enough sleep since i had a noon party at another pub to celebrate someone's birthday n karaoke session in the evening, i still took a walk from my massage place back home just now. Well, the distance is probably a little like walking from pasir ris to tanah merah. I must say that it was a pretty enlightening walk. From the little girl trying to sleep on a table that's of her size (along the walkway) with only a thin cloth for bedsheet to the people who cannot differentiate work from personal time by siting outside their small shops in tiny lanes, probably still expecting customers after midnight (yeah, i was walking at that time). I guess it was a walk i need in a very long time to clear some of the thoughts in my head. Especially those thoughts that always hit a dead end.
