Stuck in Singapore

For a while, I thought I'll be leaving in less than 2 weeks time. Now, because of a change of china policy 2 weeks ago, I'm stuck in singapore for probably an extra week to do my work visa. Damn! It also means that I've gotta push back my working start date by a week too. But why do I need to be stuck in singapore during national day??

Am I eating?

I've been over-eating. Right, what's new. I know, I've been trying to go on a diet probably since the day I was born and it never seemed like it happened before. I really believe it's because of the "bad" company I mix with who eat non-stop!

On Monday night, I was really intending to start my dieting plans. Serious! Then elinn had to call and asked me to go for a buffet @ Aquamarine. Peiqi n jas were going too. So how could I say no to that? Although peiqi had to like call me (ok, she got elinn to call but i KNOW she's the mastermind) and check if i were wearing the "right" clothes... I didn't eat too much, except for the chocolate fondue that seemed to be so good as i had a craving for it for weeks!

Last night was dinner at crystal jade with miss lim n qiushi since they couldn't see me off on my departure day. Once again, i had to end the meal with desserts... But i did my bit of exercise by taking a train down to Pasir Ris station which requires me to walk up and down the train platforms.

Tonight, i'll be having black pepper crabs. This means that I'll be forced not to eat too much since i can't handle spice very well. But it also means that i'll most likely supplement the shortage of food with other food like desserts!! Okok, i won't. And tomorrow night, and night after, and actually, every night, will be more dinner appointments for me. Yes, I need to eat real food in Singapore before I go beijing to eat cardboard. Great!

Farewell party?

It's my rich relative's birthday again, and this time, she booked the entire restaurant at the top of meritus mandarin. This year, there's an additional performance with 2 guitarists and 1 double-bassist who played and sang songs (of cos including her birthday songs). I tried my best not to over-eat since i had a really late lunch. Yeah, woke up late today and my family literally waited for me to get up n tell them where to go for lunch together. My excessive sleep is probably also the reason why I'm awake at this hour. If only i didn't have to temp tomorrow...

Went to SLS yesterday n spent almost 400 bucks. Didn't realise that they were even giving 2% cash discounts. Shows how long i haven't been to SLS. Hopefully my new 400Gb harddisk addition to my desktop will allow my siblings to tide through the next couple of years when i'm in beijing. I'm so excited that the beijing SLS is even bigger than singapore expo! Yes, i'm going to build a super machine there. I've even thought of the specs already.

Oh, attended a JC friend's baby's one-month old this afternoon as well. To think i didn't even know she was pregnant in the first place! Time really flies. Even gerrie's married for more than half a year now. Should I be feeling the heat of settling down or should i be feeling sad that i'm leaving my friends for beijing? Anyway, i'm having dinner at yisi's house tomorrow night then meeting my JC teacher and another friend on tues nite. So many people to catch up with suddenly. So should I throw a farewell party for myself? Hmm.......

One after another

And so in the process of getting my dad to watch transformers, i had to watch it for a second time. Okok, that's an excuse. Frankly, i wanted to watch it again since it's damn good! My bro, who joined us, was also watching it the second time. Since the tickets were like sold out almost everywhere, we ended up catching it at balestier shaw plaza. Still, it beats the other neighbourhood cinemas and for the second time this week, i had founders' bak kut teh.

On fri nite, i brought my 2 china colleagues out for seafood dinner @ changi village. Since no one else was available, i asked peiqi to join us. Didn't think the 3 of us could finish all those food. Once again, peiqi proved herself as the food queen by finishing up the food, and still being able to eat desserts after that! Brought them to jacksons since helen wanted local desserts.

I think i must be very sleepy these days cos i seem to be sleeping quite a lot. This afternoon, after the bak kut teh n a cornetto cone, i went to sleep almost immediately for at least 3 hours! Didn't even realise that it was raining heavily. Went to bedok interchange for watermelon dessert since i still felt the spice from the pepper in that bak kut teh. So shiok! Except for the fact that my brother ate half of it... :(

Need to sleep soon since i've got my temp job starting early in the morning. I wonder why i agreed to this. Sighz... if only fae toh could find someone else to help her out, i won't need to suffer so much! Oh then there's also the networking dinner tomorrow evening at the cricket club. Wonder why i'm invited even since i oredi left UTC. Yeah, fri was my last day at UTC!!! So happy lor... lalalalalala...........

Money money money

I'm so pissed off with citibank. I forgot to bring my wallet to taiwan (again) n reported my credit card missing. Told them to send it to taipei. When i finally got it, it's almost the end of my project. So i celebrated my card arrival by having dinner on the 85th floor of 101 taipei. Fantastic food with a fantastic view, just that we didn't sit next to the glass windows. Still, we had our share of pictures after dinner when we hijacked the room after the customers just left.

I'm finally back in singapore once again. Went to see my elias kids as soon as i touched down. Did a bit of tkd and realised that my physique is no longer quite there. My legs are aching even until now. Sunday was grading day for my kids. I was so disappointed to see their deteriorating standard. I feel the need to bring their standards up, yet i'm only in singapore for such a short period of time before i relocate to beijing.

After grading, i went sim lim sq to get my HDD casing. Was so happy with my purchase of the cooler master casing, that costs half the price of my HDD itself. My stomach was screwing me up at the same time, so dehua drove me home. Think he was feeling a little lost? After my recuperation, i had to join my younger sis for her matchmaking dinner. I think it's so funny that my older sis tried to match-make her classmate with my younger sis. Fortunately i'm going to beijing, otherwise she'll wanna intro the guy to me! But i must say the guy's pretty decent. Pretty good at sports. Since he suggested going for karaoke some time soon, let's check out his musical talents before deciding... :) Ok, it's my younger sis's choice so i shall just add salt and vinegar to the situation.

Watched transformers today at the picturehouse and it's really pretty neat. I must say the animations of those transformations are really quite good, and the digital sound was simply excellent. So happy i chose to watch the digital version. It really made a difference. Now is to get my dad to watch the show too, i'm sure he'll love it!

Taipei, for the 3rd time...

It's my 3rd time here in taipei, but it feels like i haven't been here before. Somehow, i don't have much impression of taipei as compared to Hong Kong. The only thing i recall is probably the salty XL-size chicken steak which is like damn nice lor. For the whole week, i had been so hard at work that i didn't have time to update my blog. In fact, swee sum made a comment that it's crazy to be hit by my gastrics twice in less than a week. Yeah, i've been having very bad gastrics n i ran out of my pills...

This weekend, the intention was to go Alishan. However, we hesitated so much after hearing all the terrible news around the area (thanks to peiqi who watches taiwanese exaggerated news every other hour) that we didn't book until the morning itself. By then, they were fully booked. Apparently, that place is safe as anything n hordes of people are still dying to go there! In the end, we stayed in taichung for the weekend. On saturday, however, we did go up to alishan for sunrise. We set off at 1.30am, travelled for like a few hours via cab, and we missed the train to bring us to the spot for watching sunrise. Yes, we MISSED it. And by less than 5 minutes!! The only good thing that came out of that was I had time to recuperate from my gastrics that lasted from 3am to 10am. The sharp pain was definitely killing me.

So we went to other places for sight-seeing. We were pretty much knocked out by 1pm, so we headed for the hotel to nap after lunch. When we came back to taipei just now, our hands were all full from our food shopping. In fact, our weekend luggages (tiny haversacks) n purchases took up more than the space of the car boot! We might have to ship the food back in cartons...

I'm not sure if i mentioned, but i have decided to go for the job in beijing. In the meantime, it appears that UK has sent me my work visa. I really need to tell them i'm not going anymore before they start buying my laptop. Or maybe they have already done that???
