It's my 3rd time here in taipei, but it feels like i haven't been here before. Somehow, i don't have much impression of taipei as compared to Hong Kong. The only thing i recall is probably the salty XL-size chicken steak which is like damn nice lor. For the whole week, i had been so hard at work that i didn't have time to update my blog. In fact, swee sum made a comment that it's crazy to be hit by my gastrics twice in less than a week. Yeah, i've been having very bad gastrics n i ran out of my pills...
This weekend, the intention was to go Alishan. However, we hesitated so much after hearing all the terrible news around the area (thanks to peiqi who watches taiwanese exaggerated news every other hour) that we didn't book until the morning itself. By then, they were fully booked. Apparently, that place is safe as anything n hordes of people are still dying to go there! In the end, we stayed in taichung for the weekend. On saturday, however, we did go up to alishan for sunrise. We set off at 1.30am, travelled for like a few hours via cab, and we missed the train to bring us to the spot for watching sunrise. Yes, we MISSED it. And by less than 5 minutes!! The only good thing that came out of that was I had time to recuperate from my gastrics that lasted from 3am to 10am. The sharp pain was definitely killing me.
So we went to other places for sight-seeing. We were pretty much knocked out by 1pm, so we headed for the hotel to nap after lunch. When we came back to taipei just now, our hands were all full from our food shopping. In fact, our weekend luggages (tiny haversacks) n purchases took up more than the space of the car boot! We might have to ship the food back in cartons...
I'm not sure if i mentioned, but i have decided to go for the job in beijing. In the meantime, it appears that UK has sent me my work visa. I really need to tell them i'm not going anymore before they start buying my laptop. Or maybe they have already done that???
