Total eclipse of the sun, moon and heart
Another month has passed, hence it's time to update my blog again. I'm not intentionally doing it monthly, but i realised that i've been so busy and can only remember my blog once a month. Today is the 15th day of CNY, meaning the last day that we can play with fireworks in china. I'm sitting all alone in this pathetic run-down hotel in qingdao trying to work, and i keep hearing the fireworks explode non-stop since the moment i got off the plane. And they are the huge ones like we see in singapore on national day. I seriously cannot distinguish the sound of the fireworks from the guns, bombs and cannons. This is worse than a warzone. Since i can't beat them, i will probably join them in burning up all the fireworks later and maybe burn this hotel down too.
Of course i went home for CNY. Everyone knew that i was back to collect ang pow. Duh. I even wanted to take no-pay leave to spend more time in singapore so that i can collect more ang pow but my request was rejected by my big boss. Hence, my time in singapore was cut short significantly. I was one of the grumpy souls who had to work even when i was back in singapore for holidays. Since most of my clothes are in china, i went to EY singapore office which is located at the most posh area (aka one raffles quay) in my tkd polo t-shirt and 3/4s. I swear that was the nicest thing i could find in my wardrobe that day!
Still, i was distinct enough to be spotted by gerrie while i was running into the building. She happened to be waiting for lisa outside. That kick-started our conversation and the next morning, we became business partners while having breakfast at jalan kayu roti prata. Not sure if it's going to work, but who cares. Nothing venture nothing gain. Although one of my senior managers told me today that solar eclipse happened on the first day of CNY, while the moon eclipse is happening today (15th day of CNY), which is the first time in history. Doesn't appear to be a good sign for the year...
